Services
Psychiatric assessment, ADHD care, prescribing and talking work, offered together rather than as separate products. Everything below is delivered by secure video to adults across North Carolina.
ADHD assessment and treatment
Attention and focus difficulties assessed properly rather than guessed at, whether they have been there since childhood or have only become a problem under recent pressure.
- A structured assessment of attention, focus, impulsivity and organisation
- Ruling in and ruling out the other things that look like ADHD, including anxiety, low mood and poor sleep
- Medication where it is appropriate, with monitoring and regular review
- Practical strategies for work, study and daily routine alongside any medication
Adults and older adults
Care for ages 18 and upward. Someone in the middle of a working life and someone in later life are not dealing with the same thing, and the approach is adjusted accordingly.
- Adults of any gender, from 18 upward
- Older adults, including medication review later in life
- Appointments conducted in English
Medication management
As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Mary can prescribe and manage psychiatric medication. That covers starting something new and reviewing something somebody else started.
- Starting a medication, with a clear explanation of what to expect
- Adjusting a dose that is not doing enough, or is doing too much
- Reviewing and simplifying a list that has grown over the years
- Monitoring side effects, interactions and how you are tolerating it
Ongoing follow-up and monitoring
Shorter, regular appointments that keep the plan matched to where you actually are. Most of the value of psychiatric care is here rather than in the first visit.
- Checking what has improved and what has not moved at all
- Adjusting the plan rather than repeating it
- Watching for side effects and for changes in physical health
- Planning ahead for how and when treatment might be stepped down
Psychiatric evaluation and diagnosis
A full assessment before anything is decided. This is the longest appointment you will have, and most of it is you talking and Mary listening.
- Your history, current symptoms and how long this has been going on
- What has been tried before, what helped and what did not
- Physical health, sleep and anything else feeding into the picture
- A clear explanation of what is being considered and why
Telehealth appointments
All appointments are held by secure video. There is no office visit to arrange, no travel and no waiting room, and care is available to anyone located in North Carolina.
- First appointments and follow-ups are both held by video
- You need a private space, a device with a camera and a connection
- No app to buy. You will be sent a link before the appointment
- Useful when travel, work hours or childcare make an office visit hard, and when leaving the house is itself part of the problem
Therapy and counselling
Talking work, either alongside medication or on its own. Medication can lift the floor, but it does not by itself teach you what to do differently. That is what this part is for.
- Understanding what is driving the pattern you keep hitting
- Practical ways of handling anxiety, low mood, anger or stress
- Working through grief, difficult relationships and life changes
- Christian counselling, for clients who want faith included in the work
What a first visit looks like
Longer, slower, and mostly listening
The first appointment is not a form-filling exercise. It is where a trusting relationship gets established, and that is the thing everything else depends on.
You will be asked about your history and your symptoms, but you set the pace. If there is something you are not ready to talk about, say so, and it will keep.
On fees and insurance. Please contact the practice directly to confirm what applies to you before your first appointment. We would rather tell you accurately over the phone than publish something here that turns out not to fit your situation.
Not sure which of these you need?
That is a normal place to start, and working it out is part of the first appointment rather than something to solve beforehand.
